Several board committees and partners provided informational updates during the meeting.
Brainerd Public Schools Foundation: Director Edelman reported the foundation raised funds through a fall campaign and a Warrior gear sale. The foundation reported $1,500 raised through a recent campaign and $2,830 from a Warrior sale; the board also announced a $58,000 allocation for 4a grants (academic, arts, athletics and activities) available to district staff and coaches, with the first application cycle closing Oct. 21.
Wellness Task Force and Safe & Welcoming Schools Committee: Director Brecken said the district’s Choose Kindness event on Oct. 7 drew more than 1,200 attendees and featured non‑profit partners and resource tables; the wellness task force plans staff surveys to identify mental‑health supports and is exploring Project 11 training for Forest View and other counseling staff.
Board members were advised how to learn more and how staff can apply for 4a grants; no formal board action was required for the informational reports.
