The Brainerd Public School District board approved the 2024‑25 Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness (CACR) annual report for submission to the Minnesota Department of Education.
Director Christina Lundgren presented the report, noting which site goals were met and which were not. Highlights she cited included early‑childhood readiness using the TS Gold assessment (83.9% met or exceeded the literacy area goal) and a reduction in the reading proficiency gap between special‑education and non‑special‑education students on the state MCA reading test.
On the college‑and‑career readiness metric (MCA reading benchmark of 1047), the district exceeded the goal: the presentation noted 25% of students met the benchmark (the district’s goal had been 17%). The district did not meet its four‑year graduation target: the confirmed state figure for 2024 was 87.0%, below the board’s goal of 88.9%.
The report included a new category intended to measure whether graduates are prepared to be lifelong learners. The initial survey had a 51% senior response rate, below the 90% participation goal, so the district will repeat and refine that measure.
Director Dondelinger moved to approve the CACR report for submission; the motion was seconded by Director Brecken and approved by the board in a roll‑call/voice vote recorded in the meeting transcript.
