School committee approves minutes, overnight trips, obsolescences and policy updates; restraint policy passes 3–2

Policies: The committee considered two policy updates supplied after a DESE audit. The first policy, on the restraint of students and related de-escalation training, was debated at length. Committee members asked for clarity about whether a specific anti-bullying curriculum and training are already in place; administrators said much of the training is required and in development and agreed to follow up with the director of student support services at a subsequent meeting. The restraint policy was approved on a 3–2 vote. A second policy concerning classroom observations and confidentiality was approved unanimously (5–0).
