Resident announces Thornridge alumni panel, housing meeting and township tax seminar in Dolton

A Dolton resident announced a Thornridge High School alumni panel for “this Wednesday” (date not specified) and invited employers to recruit youth, and said the village housing committee will meet Oct. 28, with a township tax appeal and exemption seminar scheduled Oct. 29.

The announcements came during a public comment period at a municipal meeting. The resident said the Thornridge alumni panel will be held at the Tinley Park Convention Center and asked employers to attend and recruit young people seeking work.

“If there are any employers who's hiring and would like to join us, at this alumni panel, it'll be held at Tinley Park Conventional Center at 1PM. Please contact me via phone at (708) 968-4297,” the resident said.

The resident said the Village of Dolton housing committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Village Hall to discuss a potential housing program. The resident also promoted an “annual tax appeal and exemption seminar” led by Township Tax Assessor Cassandra Hobert on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The seminar was described as taking place at Royal Estates, 1515 East 104th Street in Dolton, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The speaker emphasized that many homeowners do not understand why mortgages increase and attributed those rises often to higher property taxes. The resident also thanked Thornridge High School and District 205 for community support.

The resident provided a contact phone number for employers interested in participating in the alumni panel and thanked the mayor at the close of remarks.
