Commissioners authorize sealed bids for Annex 3 lower roof replacement, seek 25- and 30-year options

Freestone County staff told the commissioners on Oct. 9 that the lower section of the Annex 3 roof is leaking badly in the server room and that repairs will require re-slope work and a new control joint.
A facilities presenter described options to bid both a 25-year and a 30-year roof solution for the lower section, noting that a partial corner repair would not address the underlying slope issue and could lead to further failures. Staff said they planned a pre-construction, pre-bid meeting the following Monday and expected bid openings in the auditor’s office the next Friday; the county aims to make the roof watertight before January.
Commissioners were asked to approve soliciting sealed bids for the roof work. A motion and second were recorded and the court carried the motion.
Staff said the bid package would include both options so the county could compare costs and choose the longer-lasting solution if justified. Contractors will access the roof for site walks as arranged by county staff; no final contract award was made at the meeting.
