Staff said formal formation of a subcommittee and any motion to do so would be brought to the commission at a subsequent meeting if necessary, but commissioners indicated support for moving forward and recruiting citizens and business partners to help organize events.
No city funds were committed and staff said the project could proceed with a mix of donations and potential budget allocation if the subcommittee recommends it. The item will return to a future meeting with committee membership and a proposed plan.
