Students plan Eco Campus revitalization; advisory committee proposes steps to deter vaping

The same student, identified in the meeting as Ethan (student member), said the school's advisory committee — which he said includes about 15 people — is working on methods to deter vaping in student bathrooms. He described proposals discussed by the committee, including a possible sign-in system tied to Chromebooks to track bathroom use by student and time. Ethan emphasized that vaping is illegal and that the group is developing options to reduce the behavior.
The superintendent told the board he would "piggyback on Ethan" and confirmed that the teams planting trees will fill holes that have already been dug and that organizers expect a good turnout. The superintendent also announced the district's Wall of Fame induction ceremony will be Nov. 1, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m.; lunch in the cafeteria will be ticketed for attendees.
Board members and staff did not take formal action on these items because the meeting lacked a quorum. The student proposals on vaping were described as ongoing work by the advisory committee; no policy changes or disciplinary rules were adopted at the meeting.
