Yelm planning commissioners move to consolidate rules, seek clearer council guidance

Chair Richard Lumsdale, chairman of the Yelm Planning Commission, opened the meeting Tuesday and commissioners spent much of the session discussing a plan to consolidate multiple internal guidance documents into a single, updated handbook.
Commissioner Dana Allen, who presented the subcommittee's work, said the goal is to "review and update the rules, current rule of the procedure, and conduct of business documents, and to create a law as appropriate." She told commissioners the packet they were given includes several overlapping documents — the commission's rules of procedure, a conduct-of-business sheet and a separate recommended staff procedures document — and that consolidation would reduce duplication.
