Councilmembers announce multiple community meetings on proposed zoning changes and district events

Multiple Nashville councilmembers used the Oct. 21 announcements period to publicize a series of upcoming community meetings on proposed zoning changes and other local events.
Councilmember Ewing announced two West Nashville meetings on zoning bills: Oct. 22, 6–7:45 p.m. at Hillsborough High School cafeteria, and Oct. 27, 6–7:45 p.m. at James Lawson High School auditorium.
Councilmember Gamble said the District 3 quarterly meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Madison Precinct and will cover proposed projects affecting the district. Councilmember Harrell announced District 8’s monthly community meeting on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. at Hamilton United Methodist Church and noted a Southeast community meeting on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Southeast Community Center; Harrell said attendees will hear from Planning, Codes, Metro Fire, Metro Water Services, NES and the police department.
Councilmember Eastlake announced a cemetery restoration event on Saturday (Oct. 25) at Thomas Overton Cemetery from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with representatives from the Tennessee Historical Commission and the Metro Historical Commission on hand to demonstrate preservation and restoration techniques. Eastlake also announced a multi-district community meeting about planning and proposed bill changes on Oct. 30, 6–7 p.m., at 4040 Lebanon Road where planning staff will attend for Q&A.
Councilmember Huffman said districts 11 through 15 will host a planning department meeting on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church to discuss proposed zoning changes. Councilmember Gadd said districts 24, 25 and 34 will hold a joint community meeting with the planning department on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at Hillsborough High School focused on housing and infrastructure proposals.
A councilmember announced a constituent coffee event for Saturday, Oct. 25, 9–11 a.m., at Primitive Coffee, 2601 Nolensville Pike. Councilmember Taylor announced a community discussion on natural predators in connection with Centennial Sportsplex on Oct. 30 at the Metro Parks Boardroom on Park Plaza.
These announcements took place during the council’s announcements and presentation period; they were presented as invitations for constituents to attend and ask planning and departmental staff questions. Several councilmembers emphasized the opportunity to get information, ask questions and correct misinformation about the proposed changes.
