Several members of the public used the meeting’s public participation period to ask for clearer financial disclosures and to defend school food services.
Candy Staley, 2258 County Road 156, Carrington, asked the board to label disbursements on the agenda more clearly so the public can tell whether payees are district employees, vendors or others. She asked about several items she saw on the disbursement list, including payments to Ashley Station for $10,837.12 and entries for Lehi High Landscape and Hill International Trucks LLC. Staley asked whether the district competitively bid landscaping contracts, whether the landscaping firm covers the whole district and whether snow removal is included, and whether fuel purchases receive a rate reduction. She also asked for clearer explanations of an organizational-chart agenda item.
During non‑agenda public participation, Terry Kidwell, head cook at Buckeye Valley West, said the district’s food-service staff prepare fresh meals under strict state and federal rules and objected to suggestions that meals are not freshly prepared. Kidwell invited anyone to visit any building and have lunch to see preparation firsthand and said staff collaborate with students on menus and taste testing.
Board members and staff acknowledged the requests for clarity and said they would provide more information where possible; staff were asked to follow up on the disbursement formatting and organizational-chart description so future agendas give the public more context.
