New Solon City Schools chief of police introduced to board; seeks partnerships with district

Courtney Perkins, who was appointed last month as chief of police for Solon City Schools, introduced himself during the Oct. 13 board meeting and offered to strengthen partnerships between the district and local public‑safety agencies.
Perkins told the board he had contacted Superintendent Bolden to congratulate the district on recent achievements and to offer support for transportation safety and other school‑public safety coordination. Perkins said he had no formal agenda but wanted to “be a fly on the wall,” make himself available to the district, and maintain a strong working relationship with school leaders, staff and families.
Board members thanked Perkins and noted the district’s existing relationships with prior police chiefs and local public safety partners. Perkins’ remarks were brief and introductory; he did not request formal board action.
The board welcomed the new chief and reiterated that police‑school partnerships are an important part of student and staff safety.
