Staff said the SALDO and zoning ordinance drafts will also be submitted to Allegheny County for review and comment. The Land Use Administrator asked council members to review the package and provide comments — staff suggested Halloween as a target date for council feedback due to the scope of the materials.
Council noted that advertising the hearing and referral to the Planning Commission are early steps in the ordinance process; any final adoption would require a subsequent council public hearing and formal vote. The meeting record shows two township-prepared land-use applications were approved that evening (Raintree Manor basin subdivision and Naylor Avenue consolidation), and two conditional-use items were withdrawn after consultation with legal counsel.
Why it matters: Changes to the zoning ordinance, SALDO and official map can alter development rules, subdivision standards and future road and park dedications. Referral to the Planning Commission and county review start the formal review and public-comment phase required before any adoption.
