The board decided to solicit applications and requested procedures to make an application form available on the district website and as a paper copy at the central office. The board set an application receipt deadline of Oct. 24 (central office closes at noon that day) so the trustees could review candidates prior to an executive-session discussion planned Oct. 25 and interviews at the Nov. 5 CAL meeting if needed.
During the same meeting trustees nominated and appointed Billy Wilson to serve as treasurer for the remainder of the current term vacated by Nussbaum; nominations were closed and the board voted in favor by voice vote. Board members noted the appointment is for the interim period through December when regular elections occur.
Board members asked procedural questions about whether interviews should be conducted in open session or executive session; trustees recalled past practice of conducting interviews in executive session and indicated they planned to follow that precedent. The board also discussed public notice options including the district marquee and paper copies available at the central office.
No contested appointment was made at the meeting; the board will accept applications and consider finalists at the November CAL meeting and may hold interviews in executive session prior to selecting a replacement.
