District technology staff said they will recommend renewal of Microsoft Office at the Oct. 21 board meeting and that the renewal carries no cost increase from the prior year. "At the October 21 board meeting, I'll bring a recommendation to the board to approve the renewal of our Microsoft Office tools. There's no increase to the cost from the prior year," Dan, a district staff member, told the board.
On snow removal, facilities staff reported the district's two-year contract with Ground Effects is ending and the district issued a bid on Sept. 29 for a three-year contract covering snow and ice removal for district lots and bus lanes serving West Chicago High School, including student parking areas at Geneva and Wood Street. The district held a mandatory pre-bid meeting attended by six contractors and scheduled the bid opening for Oct. 14; staff will review submissions and present a recommendation at the Oct. 21 board meeting.
A board member asked why sidewalk clearing is separated from lot and bus-lane plowing; staff replied the district historically keeps sidewalk clearing in-house to avoid contractor damage to posted signs and to rely on staff familiarity with sign locations.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn. A board member moved, another seconded, and the board approved the motion by voice vote with all present voting "aye."
