District reports large hiring gains; administrators say Granite near full staffing after summer recruiting

Dr. Patrick Flanagan, Granite School District’s director of staffing, told the board Oct. 7 that the district has made substantial hiring gains and is near full staffing as the school year begins.
Dr. Flanagan said the district filled 1,769 contract and hourly educational support positions since April, representing 1,495 unique individuals. He also reported the district has filled dozens of custodial, nutrition and paraprofessional roles that were hard to recruit in prior years, and that as of Sept. 30 a handful of teacher vacancies remained while most classrooms are staffed.
