Former Duncanville High teacher raises parking‑lot safety and personnel concerns in public comment

A former Duncanville High School teacher used the board’s public comment period to describe a safety incident and to raise concerns about administrative practices affecting her employment references.

Demetria S. McDonald identified herself as a former general‑education math teacher at Duncanville High School from July 2023 to May 2025 and said she was speaking to “respectfully address matters that have had a direct and lasting impact on both my professional representation and community safety.” McDonald described a January 24, 2025 incident in Parking Lot A at Duncanville High School that she said began as a “fender bender due to the illegal parked parent car and AM drop off of a student without any signage, camera, or officer present to guide the restricted vehicle.” She said the situation created “confusion, unsafe conditions for motorists and staff” and asked the district to pursue “clear safety procedures, consistent enforcement and inter agency coordination between the district and the city of Duncanville.”

McDonald also said she experienced administrative barriers after she left the district that she believes affected her ability to resign freely and to obtain references for new employment, calling for “transparency, fairness, and accountability in both personnel practices and campus operations.” The board did not respond during the public forum; Moss later noted administrators would investigate matters raised during public comment when appropriate and contact speakers as required by board procedure.

McDonald concluded her remarks with a request that the board consider the items she raised and thanked the board for the opportunity to speak.
