Duncanville ISD introduces new senior leaders, recognizes donors and honors staff and students

Dr. April Wyatt and Rosa Elva Hernandez were introduced as new deputy chiefs of school leadership; the packet summarized both leaders’ turnaround experience and prior district roles. The board also introduced Dr. Elijah Granger as an interim principal; packet materials noted his experience as a turnaround campus leader and current lecturer in educational leadership at UNT Dallas.
The district recognized the Ariel Atkins Foundation and the LIDS Foundation for a teacher appreciation event at Maryfield Elementary, and administrators said the combined donations exceeded $20,000 in items, gift cards and services. The board also presented monthly "Made with Pride" recognitions to a teacher, a staff member (school resource officer Kelvin Biggins) and a student (Sebastian Puente), and showed a short video of honorees. Several honorees spoke briefly about their work and values.
No board action was required for these introductions and recognitions. Trustees and administrators asked the community to join upcoming district events, including the Discover Duncanville ISD fall festival.
