Parent urges action after students avoid Lincoln County High School bathrooms amid vaping, clogs

Alicia Adkins, a mother of a freshman at Lincoln County High School, told the Lincoln County Board of Education on Oct. 7 that students are avoiding school bathrooms because they are not safe.
"The bathrooms are not safe there," Adkins said. "There's only 1 functioning bathroom that they usually keep open at 1 time." She said students are skipping bathroom visits, and that her son has had recurring stomach issues requiring X-rays because he avoids using school restrooms. Adkins also said other parents told her the problem has persisted for years: "I've had some parents say it's been going on for over 10 years."
