Summary
Robertson County School Board approved a balanced budget amendment that adds $581,326 in state revenue; board members reviewed an expense comparison showing 9% revenue and 13% expenditures year-to-date and discussed electricity costs.
The Robertson County School Board on Oct. 6 approved a balanced budget amendment that incorporates $581,326 in state revenue into the district’s current fiscal year budget.
Director of Schools Dr. Weeks told the board that the district received state revenues totaling $581,326 and that the amendment, prepared by Ms. Clinehart, reallocates those funds across the budget. ‘‘This is a balanced budget amendment,’’ Weeks said, and the amendment was prepared for submission to county finance.
Board member Jeff White moved to approve the amendment; Demetria White seconded. Board members voiced ‘‘Aye’’ and the chair announced the motion passed. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting minutes provided.
At the same meeting the board reviewed an expense-comparison report through August. Weeks said revenues are ‘‘at 9% of our budget’’ with expenditures ‘‘at 13% of our budget’’ for the early fiscal period. He noted property tax revenues were recorded at 0 for the period (typical for the July–August window) and that sales tax revenues were about $100,000 higher than the same period last year. Members asked about high electricity costs; a board member noted electricity was ‘‘20% for electricity is pretty pretty high,’’ and Weeks attributed the increase to hot weather and extended HVAC use during the start of school.
The board approved the budget amendment by motion and signaled staff would file the amendment with county finance.
