Finance committee approves series of budget amendments, all pass 5-0

The Bradley County Finance Committee approved a series of budget amendments during its Oct. 6 meeting, moving money within departmental funds and recording several new grant revenues. Committee members voted by voice on each amendment and chair reported each passed 5-0; the items will appear on the consent agenda for the full commission.

The amendments included transfers into data processing and equipment lines for the Register of Deeds and Circuit Clerk; moves of reserve balances into operating lines for court-related programs; multiple sheriff's office grants and reimbursements; small revenue/expense adjustments for restitution and inmate accounts; vehicle replacement and insurance reimbursements for the medical examiner; and several inter‑line reallocations for probation, community corrections and the UT Extension office.

Committee members asked staff to check line-item coverage for payroll taxes on a sheriff’s office amendment that allocated money to part‑time personnel and Social Security; staff (Caleb) said he would follow up. Several remarks noted the documents and supporting checks were attached to the county finance documentation.

All of the committee’s amendments were approved by voice vote and were reported as passing 5 to 0. The chair said these items would appear on the consent agenda for the full commission voting session.
