City staff and Jacobs report $53M in completed MFI projects, $13M ongoing; more ribbon cuttings planned

Presenters said the completed work includes community centers that now host eSports programs, tournaments and senior services, and that a new community center at Courtney Harmon will have a pre-K space and a ribbon cutting scheduled for Oct. 30.
Why it matters: The MFI program represents a multi-year investment in neighborhood facilities and public infrastructure. Staff said the projects were intended to be more than brick-and-mortar upgrades, and that program managers coordinated with Parks and Recreation and community groups to provide programming in renovated centers.
Presenters said TRC reached substantial completion and that two additional ribbon cuttings for community centers (TRC and Regency Park) were expected before year-end. Officials asked councilmembers to attend the regular 1 p.m. Mondays meeting for more detail on scheduling and funding of later-phase (tier 2) projects.
Councilmembers asked about timing for additional district-specific projects and whether funding would be available to proceed with the next tier. Staff said schematic designs for several district centers are complete and that further work depends on funding availability.
No formal action was taken; staff provided the update and invited councilmembers to continued oversight meetings.
