Chair Charlie Gatsby, of the Newcastle Planning Commission, announced that the commission would not hold its scheduled meeting after it failed to reach a quorum.
Gatsby told attendees at 6:00 p.m. that "We do not have a quorum at this moment." The commission waited until 6:10 p.m. and then Gatsby said, "It is now 06:10 and we do not have a quorum, so we will not hold our meeting tonight." He noted two commissioners were absent with excuse and that there is one vacancy on the commission.
The chair told listeners the commission's next meeting will be the third Wednesday in November and that the group is not meeting on its traditional fourth Wednesday that month because of the holiday.
Because the commission lacked a quorum, no agenda items were considered and no formal motions or votes were held.
