The staff listed classes that did not run this year due to low requests (for example, Introduction to Multimedia Journalism had four requests) and noted new second-semester offerings such as Digital Art and Culinary Arts II. Middle school: Principals reported improvements to the tiered behavior/intervention process (moving discussions to grade-level teams to accelerate problem solving), expanded advisory and clubs (dinosaur discovery, flight-simulator and dodgeball club), and a bullying-prevention emphasis framed as “social cruelty” conversations led by counselors and the social worker. Staff described close monitoring of attendance, targeted small-group instruction during midday time and a successful first fun night/dance for students.
Elementary and Linnentown: The Linnentown principal described strong turnout at an open house and work on MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) to target fourth- and fifth-grade interventions beginning in the second marking period. Kelly Elementary staff described community partnerships and events including a Kelly pep rally with Bucknell athletes, and reported that third- and second-grade students received water-safety instruction in partnership with the Milton YMCA and spreading antlers foundation; 12 of 14 classes were scheduled before winter with makeup dates available.
Donation: The board acknowledged a Walmart donation of school supplies, recorded in the meeting as $6,004.44 worth of supplies delivered in two van trips; the donation was recognized on the consent agenda.
Testing and school calendar notes: The principals reiterated upcoming events: homecoming activities, a dance, Dragon Dash fundraiser, alumni weekend and professional development day for staff (regional in-service at Susquehanna University).
