House Resolution 288, introduced by Representative Haddock, recognizes the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy. Representative Haddock told the committee the Continental Congress established what was then the Continental Navy on Oct. 13, 1775, and said the resolution celebrates the Navy’s 250th birthday. “This resolution celebrates the 250th birthday of the U.S. Navy,” Representative Haddock said.
House Resolution 328, introduced by Representative Pew, calls attention to Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5–11, and urges public education about safe charging and disposal of batteries and battery-powered devices. “This year’s theme is actually ‘Charging Into Fire Safety,’” Representative Pew said, and she urged outreach about proper disposal of batteries and using appropriate chargers to reduce fire risk.
Both resolutions had no negative votes recorded in the committee transcript and were moved to the House floor for consideration.
Separately, the committee rereferred House Bill 798 to the State Government Committee for further consideration. Committee members offered no questions on the rereferral in the transcript.
