Forest Hills Board moves into closed session for superintendent evaluation; discusses staff trust and leadership goals

Board members began the meeting by appointing a temporary secretary for the session and approving the minutes of the Sept. 8 regular meeting. No members of the public were present for the meeting’s public-comment period.
The board approved the motion to enter closed session on a roll-call vote. Members recorded as voting yes in the roll call were Missus Wishart, Mister Crowe, Missus DeBoer, Missus Dawson and Mister Cowley. The board returned to open session later in the meeting and discussed the superintendent’s stated goals.
Board members said Superintendent Kirby will focus on two main goal areas for the year: increasing trust and relationships among staff, prompted by a somewhat lower net promoter score on recent surveys, and increasing leadership capacity by developing leaders from within district staff. The discussion referenced work already underway, including support tied to the supervisor of student support systems (referred to in the meeting as “S4”).
The meeting concluded without further formal actions; the board adjourned after the open-session discussion. The board indicated progress on the superintendent’s goals will be reviewed in upcoming quarterly evaluations throughout the year.
