"The old generator is gone. New generator is in place. It's gonna be fueled up today, and then we'll start working with tower to get the start up going ... November 4, election day," Mike said, adding the district plans multiple transfers that day to confirm operation.
The committee also received an update on the North House HVAC study. Mike said Landmark provided an updated options spreadsheet and will present recommendations at the full Board of Education meeting Monday. "It looks to me we will be within our price range to move forward with this," Mike said, and that the recommended approach resembles prior work at the high school: variable‑refrigerant‑flow systems paired with a dedicated outdoor‑air system for makeup air. He said the only potential surprise would be if a rooftop unit were specified and the roof's structural capacity proved insufficient; otherwise, Landmark found no unanticipated conditions on initial walkthroughs.
Committee members discussed indoor‑air‑quality sensors. Peter said there is growing interest in carbon‑monoxide and IAQ sensing and suggested bringing in a local expert who also advises on funding options. Committee members expressed a preference for integrating sensors into the district's energy‑management platform rather than placing stand‑alone units on every classroom wall, citing power and breathing‑level placement concerns.
No capital purchases were approved at the Oct. 17 meeting; Landmark's formal presentation and any potential procurement decisions are scheduled for the upcoming Board meeting.
