Irvine told the council he coaches the local 4‑H shooting program and helped expand the youth program from four participants to about 36 in recent years; he said roughly 60 area youth participate in related activities. Council opened online voting and approved the appointment unanimously.
The mayor welcomed Irvine and the council thanked him for volunteering.
