Summary
The Township Council adopted two capital ordinances to fund Memorial Field improvements and a new DPW facility, continued a zoning ordinance public hearing and introduced lease and noise-related ordinances.
The Township Council on Oct. 20 adopted two capital appropriations ordinances and advanced several other ordinance items.
Ordinance 25-21, providing for improvement of Memorial Field and appropriating $68,601.38 from previously issued obligations and capital fund balance, was adopted after a public hearing with no public comment. The roll call recorded unanimous approval.
Ordinance 25-22, providing for construction of a new Department of Public Works facility and appropriating $150,349.85 from proceeds of obligations and capital fund balance, was adopted after questions about available balances and encumbrances; council members voted unanimously to adopt.
Council continued the public hearing on Ordinance 25-20, an amendment to site plan review rules and demolition/tree-preservation provisions in Chapter 540-84. Planning Board-recommended redline edits were discussed; council members and planners debated whether to add language requiring owners or contractors to re-engage the building department if demolition exceeds approval scope. The ordinance remained under discussion pending additional review.
Council introduced Ordinance 25-23, authorizing a lease agreement with Bethany Church, and Ordinance 25-24, repealing the township’s existing noise chapter; both were introduced and scheduled for public hearing.
All roll calls for the adopted ordinances showed unanimous “yes” votes from present council members.
