Central Valley SD says PDE approved comprehensive plan; district notes Chapter 35 veterans education assistance for CV High School

Central Valley SD officials told trustees on Oct. 8 that the district’s comprehensive plan has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and that Central Valley High School has been approved under U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Chapter 35 for dependents’ education assistance.
Board member Miss Belcastro introduced a staff-development release-time request and stated: “Central Valley High School is now approved by the United States Department of Veterans Affair under chapter 35, dependents education assistance.” Later in the meeting district staff member Sykes reported curriculum and standards work: “We have been continuing our curriculum work with middle school math in sixth grade, the Science Steel Standards, grades 3 through 8 specifically, looking at Keystone Bio as well. And then the high school ELA has been working during the midday. Our comprehensive plan was officially approved through PDE.”
Sykes said the comprehensive plan approval was the result of a process submitted in March and confirmed by PDE this fall, and noted a districtwide professional development opportunity: Beaver County Educational Fest on Monday, Oct. 13, which the district plans to attend. The transcript does not show formal board action required to accept these approvals; the items were presented as informational updates during the workshop.
