The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services gave a detailed update on remediation and monitoring tied to the Saint-Gobain/CincoBain site, reporting building demolition is complete, point-of-entry treatment systems have been widely installed, and both municipal water connections and expanded sampling efforts are under way.
Andy Fuller, project manager in DES’s Hazardous Waste Remediation Bureau, told the commission the Air Resources Division is terminating the facility’s air permit and that CincoBain completed demolition of the former facility as of Sept. 24; fencing and cameras remain for security. DES said CincoBain will provide a final demolition/decommissioning report and separate results from a leaching study performed on the remaining concrete slab following EPA guidance; the leaching study results were expected to lag the decommissioning report by several months.
POET installations and municipal water connections
DES reported contractors have installed approximately 758 POET systems for properties inside the consent-decree outer boundary; about 716 of those are considered complete per system-monitoring criteria. Saint-Gobain is conducting periodic maintenance…
