The Lemoore City Council received an emailed public comment Oct. 7 from a resident asking the council to review the municipal code designation for truck routes and overnight parking on Iona Avenue.
Lauren Dotter, a resident of the Lemoore Golf Course community, wrote that Iona Avenue runs behind a residential area that lacks street lighting and sidewalks and that an increase in commercial and diesel trucks parking overnight has created “significant safety and quality of life concerns.” Dotter asked the council to 1) reevaluate the municipal code provisions that currently allow overnight parking of large commercial or diesel vehicles along residential portions of the truck route, 2) explore infrastructure improvements such as adding street lighting and sidewalks, and 3) consider posted no‑parking signage to improve visibility and public safety.
Dotter’s email stated residents are not seeking to hinder commercial activity but requested the city act to ensure neighborhoods “remain safe, well lit, and livable.” The council had the comment entered into the public record; no discussion or vote on code changes took place during the Oct. 7 meeting.
The email was read into the record during the public‑comment portion of the meeting and will serve as a request for staff review; the council did not set a timeline or make a formal referral on Oct. 7.
