The Committee on Parole granted parole to Marcus Van Keith Baez, DOC 461483, on Oct. 16, 2025, after reviewing his programming, disciplinary record and a reentry plan that included employment and family support. The board voted to release Baez with conditions including outpatient substance-abuse treatment, weekly AA meetings, eight hours per month of community service and random drug screening.
Institutional staff told the panel Baez had no disciplinary reports during his recent incarceration period, a low risk assessment, a GED and a suite of rehabilitative and vocational certificates, including career-preparation and veteran-mentorship programming. Supporters, including his brother Markell Baez and other family members, told the board they would provide housing and a job opportunity: Markell said his company would employ Baez and assist with reintegration.
Lead reviewer Danny Barra cited Baez’s program completion and low risk score in a motion to grant parole and imposed conditions intended to address substance-abuse risk and promote stability. Jerry LeDoux and Chair Carolyn Stapleton concurred, producing a unanimous 3-0 vote to grant parole.
The board recorded conditions for outpatient substance-abuse treatment, weekly AA attendance, monthly community service and random drug screening; parole supervision and the parole project will coordinate placement and reporting following release.
