Parole denied for Kendall Delaney amid law-enforcement opposition and detainer concerns

The Committee on Parole denied parole to Kendall Michael Delaney, DOC 405617, at a hearing on Oct. 16, 2025. The board recognized Delaney’s participation in multiple in-prison programs and his GED but said law-enforcement opposition and uncertainty over an outstanding detainer in Bossier Parish warranted denial.
Supporters, including a cousin and the Louisiana Parole Project, told the board Delaney had completed several courses since his last hearing and that reentry services and family support were available. Carrie Myers of the Louisiana Parole Project said the organization would provide transitional services and employment assistance if Delaney were released; Myers also told the board an active detainer existed in Bossier Parish and would need resolution before any actual release.
Reviewing the case, commissioners expressed concern about Delaney’s criminal record, the gravity of the original regional offense (armed robbery as a habitual offender), and pending law-enforcement objections. The panel — Jerry LeDoux (lead reviewer), Danny Barra and Carolyn Stapleton — voted to deny parole, noting Delaney had served 19 years on a 50-year sentence and had not yet passed the board’s threshold for release in the presence of active law-enforcement opposition.
The board recorded the denial and advised Delaney and his supporters to resolve the detainer and continue programming before seeking future review.
