Board approves agenda changes and authorizes request for 10% cash in lieu of ESD services

Later in the meeting the board voted to request 10 percent cash in lieu of a portion of South Coast ESD service credits the district receives under Oregon law for the 2026-27 school year. District staff explained that the ESD retains 10 percent of generated service-credit funding for ESD operations and returns the remainder to member districts primarily as services; by requesting 10 percent cash in lieu the district would receive the funds directly and could hire staff or otherwise allocate the dollars locally. The motion asked the superintendent to complete required paperwork with South Coast ESD by the November 1 deadline for the 2026-27 school year. A board member moved the motion and the board voted in favor; the chair called for ayes and the motion carried.
