Council reports to planning commission note open seats, street-construction ordinance and economic update

A city council representative briefed the Tooele City Planning Commission on Oct. 26 about several council actions and updates, including open applications for planning commission vacancies, approval of an ordinance on construction standards for local streets, a zoning reassignment for a group of parcels, and a first-quarter economic development update.

The representative said applications are open for empty planning commission seats and, when asked for clarification, stated “1 of each.” The representative told the commission that at the council’s meeting last week it approved the ordinance establishing construction standards for local streets and reassigned the zoning for the 12 parcels the commission previously discussed. The representative also said the council received an economic development update for the first quarter and that the council heard a detailed public works update in its work meeting, which covers department activities and future plans. The representative noted the council is expecting a second Little Caesars restaurant in the city.

The report was informational; no formal council action requiring the planning commission’s decision was recorded in the planning commission’s meeting minutes. Commissioners did not request further action during the report. The representative encouraged commissioners to review the recorded council meetings for more detail.

The planning commission’s meeting then moved on to adjournment.
