Workplace Optimization Committee enters closed session on executive director evaluation; reports no action

Myra Alvarez, vice chair of the Workplace Optimization Committee of the Commission for Behavioral Health, opened the meeting and said, “Welcome to the workplace optimization committee meeting of the Commission for Behavioral Health. My name is Myra Alvarez.”

The committee moved into a closed session to continue discussions on the executive director’s performance evaluation. Alvarez told commissioners they should disclose whether anyone over the age of 18 was in the room, citing the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act, and asked participants to remain on camera while participating remotely. Staff indicated no public comment had been submitted for the closed-session item before the committee left the public portion of the meeting.

Commission staff directed commissioners joining virtually to a separate Zoom link for the closed session and said the meeting would reconvene at 2:55 p.m. for a report out. When the committee returned, Committee Chair Jay Robinson reported back on the closed session, saying, “No action was taken during the closed session.” The meeting then adjourned.

Roll call at the start of the meeting recorded the following commissioners and attendance: Commissioner Bunch (present), Commissioner Cross (present), Commissioner Madrigal Weiss (present), Commissioner Southern (present), and Vice Chair Myra Alvarez (present). Commissioners Brown and Roulette were noted as absent. Chair Jay Robinson was absent for the start of the meeting and joined later to receive the report back.
