Thomas Street resident urges borough to clean long-vacant lot used for dumping

At the public comment portion of the meeting, a Thomas Street resident described what he said is more than three years of dumping and uncut grass on an adjacent vacant lot and urged municipal officials to act.
“It's an eyesore that deters people from moving into the area, and it just looks absolutely disgusting,” said resident Chris Jackson, who gave his address as 510 Thomas Circle (Thomas Street). Jackson told council he first raised the matter in April 2022 with a borough code official and said he has followed up multiple times without results.
Jackson said the lot’s condition has persisted for approximately three and a half years and asked the borough to act promptly to address the nuisance. “Something needs to be done,” he said. “I'm tired of looking at it and something needs to be done. It's disrespectful to the community.”
Council did not take immediate action during the meeting; staff indicated the comment would be noted for follow-up with code enforcement and the planning or property-maintenance process.
