City awards Nashota Park restroom remodel contract to Hammond Construction for $58,718

At its Oct. 6 meeting, the Two Rivers City Council awarded a contract to Hammond Construction Company of Manitowoc for $58,718 to remodel restrooms at the Nashota Park horseshoe-court shelter.
City staff said the restroom remodel is part of the city’s adopted 2025 capital plan and is included in a grant‑supported package of park improvements. Parks Director Mike Mathes said the work will install touchless sinks and toilets, make ADA accessibility upgrades, provide fresh paint and install a new energy‑efficient water heater. Staff described the project as part of a roughly $419,000 stewardship package underway this year, with approximately half covered by grant funding.
The low, qualified bid from Hammond Construction was opened Sept. 22 and the council approved the award by roll‑call vote. Adam Mohaski moved to award the contract; council discussion was limited and the motion carried (see Actions).
Ending: Construction will proceed per the contract; staff indicated fall native plantings and new signage related to this year’s park improvements will follow as scheduled.
