The Rio Grande City Commission, reconvening from an executive session, approved appointments to the Kelsey Bass Museum advisory board and the event center advisory board.
Earlier in the meeting Kathy Rubio, speaking for the Kelsey Bass Museum, presented a slate of proposed advisory-board members and described nominees as active supporters who have participated in museum events and tours. Nominees presented by Rubio included Sofia Garza (Flowers by Sofia), Virginia "Gina" Gonzalez (retired federal programs director at the school district), Elizabeth "Bitzy" Margo (founding member of the museum), Adrienne Osuna (public relations director at the district), R.C. Salinas (founding museum member), Cynthia Vale (also on Parks & Rec board), and Adelina Villarreal (CTE contact for trolley tours and Lee House openings). Rubio said nominees have been active in museum activities and events and recommended them for appointment.
The commission moved that the museum and event-center advisory-board appointments be sent to executive session for discussion, and after executive session the commission returned to regular session and approved the appointments as discussed in executive session.
The meeting record shows the appointments were approved by motion following executive session; the commission recorded the vote as "aye" and the motion carried. The record does not include a public roll-call tally in the transcript excerpt.
