Parole panel grants continuance for man charged with second-degree murder

Chair Chuck Tillis and panel members discussed the pending charge and court schedule with the parolee, who said he had an upcoming court date and asked for a continuance because the charge was still pending and he expected the charge could be dismissed after court action. "I've never had the opportunity yet to have a hearing before the courts," the parolee said, and requested time to pursue the court matter. Board member LeDoux read the allegation into the record and asked Gallo to enter a plea; Gallo pleaded not guilty and requested time to handle the case in court.
Board members voted to grant the continuance. Steve Prater seconded the motion; the chair announced the continuance and closed that case. The panel noted that the allegation (violation of condition 4, dated 12-10-2024) stemmed from a recent arrest by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and a pretrial conference set for March 9, 2026, per the record read into the hearing.
