Council accepts townwide access-control and camera system; ownership to transfer to town

Mooresville Town Council on Oct. 7 accepted a completed security, access-control and video system installed at town facilities and parks and approved transferring ownership to the town.
Representatives from Corson (project contractor) reported that access control and video were installed at the police department, government center, fire department, and several park locations (Old Town, aquatic center, baseball diamond, Shelter 2 and Shelter 7), and that an as-built package, user guides and configuration documentation had been provided to town staff. The contractor said existing cameras and devices were reused where feasible and new devices were provided where needed; a one-year parts-and-labor warranty covers installations but excludes acts of God.
Corson said remote logins currently used by the contractor for troubleshooting will be removed when the town assumes ownership unless the town contracts for post-project remote support. The contractor and staff described a planned handoff process: an ownership email address will be transferred and the town will confirm the list of designated administrators.
Staff and Corson said department heads and the police patrol officer designated at a pre-closeout meeting would receive admin rights; the police patrol officer will be listed as the system owner/operator for day-to-day control, with department heads able to grant temporary credentials for limited camera access (for example, to event organizers). Corson said temporary credentials and expirations can be set for contractor badges and event accounts.
Council moved to accept the project and transfer ownership according to staff recommendations; the motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
