Board signs off on bridge replacement project D42 over Mud Creek

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved plans and authorized signatures for a bridge replacement project identified as bridge D42 on D42 at 100th and Twentieth Street over Mud Creek.
Laura Sievers of the county’s Secondary Roads division presented the project and asked the board to accept the plan cover sheet and to sign the plans so the project can move forward for letting. The board received the plans and then voted to approve the project and to build it according to the plan set and applicable federal and state rules so the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) may apply DOT bridge funding to the project.
Sievers described the structure as an aging timber bridge that will be replaced with a wider, longer structure. She said the bridge is a typical replacement project and noted that similar nearby timber structures had recently been replaced. Board members confirmed the project would be let in January for construction in 2026.
Motion and vote: The board received the cover sheet (motion by Nelson; second by Dietrich) and later approved construction according to the plans (motion by Nelson; second by Dietrich). Both motions were recorded in the transcript as passing 5-0.
