Mobile City Council holds hearing on revoking Fat Tuesdays’ business license after years of police calls

The Mobile City Council on Oct. 14 held a public hearing to consider revoking the business license of Fat Tuesdays, a late‑night club at 1608 St. Stephens Road, after city attorneys and Mobile Police Department officers described years of repeated police responses, criminal incidents and community complaints tied to the address.

City legal staff told the council that “since 2022, the MPD has responded over 270 calls for services at this address,” citing shootings, assaults, weapons violations, narcotics activity, disorderly conduct, overcrowding incidents and alleged illegal alcohol sales, and recommending revocation under City Ordinance 34‑64. Lieutenant Mac Russell “Rusty” Hardeman of the Third Precinct testified that he and his officers had been called to the location frequently, that overcrowding was routine and that parking from patrons regularly blocked residential streets and emergency access. “This year alone, there have been close to a — calls, a 100 incidents at that location,” Hardeman said.
