Resident tells county board she and others fear policing practices and seek investigations

Oliver said she and a community of people “are targeted because we've seen corruption firsthand through our law enforcement that is not addressed,” alleging they are denied effective counsel and other constitutional protections and that the treatment has led to fear of leaving their homes. “We are treated, punished horribly,” she said.
Oliver asked the board to pursue investigations and to address systemic problems she described. Board members acknowledged her comments and directed staff and appropriate offices to take note of the concerns raised during the public‑comment period.
