Council reviews 2026 road resurfacing plan and parcel consolidation on Route 8

Hampton Township staff presented a proposed list of roads for resurfacing in 2026 and asked council to endorse the program so staff can coordinate with utilities and schedule work.
Staff said they circulated approximate resurfacing plans to local utilities and noted that Peoples Gas has been active and cooperative in completing utility work ahead of paving in recent years. Staff reported that approximately 5.6 miles of roadway were paved in the current year and that they had two pricing estimates for the 2026 program; staff said they would likely work with Fordafiber (the same vendor used in recent years) on the project.
Separately, staff sought council authorization to file a simple subdivision to consolidate several parcels along Route 8 — near St. Ursula’s and the park-and-ride — with other township parcels already in the township’s inventory. Staff said the county requested the consolidation because earlier recorded right-of-way lines on Route 8 were missed when previously recorded. Council members asked whether the township planned to develop the newly consolidated parcel; staff said there was no current plan other than to correct the recorded right-of-way for a prior Duncan Avenue intersection plan.
Both items were informational and staff said they would proceed with necessary notifications to utilities and file the paperwork; council did not object.
