Education administrators asked the board Oct. 23 to move several program agreements and a curriculum renewal to the regular meeting for final approval.

Unique Learning System renewal: The district requested a one-year renewal of the Unique Learning System, described as a suite of tools to deliver standards-aligned instruction and personalized learning for students with cognitive disabilities. The administration reported the renewal cost as $181,668.10 and said it would be paid from special-education access funds.

Nursing and clinical affiliation renewals: District staff also sought renewal of two affiliation agreements to allow nursing and school-health students to complete clinical placements in district schools — one with Millersville University (school nurse certification program) and one with Lehigh Carbon Community College's Department of Nursing. Administrators said nursing students provide support in health rooms, help with student education and assist in state-required health screenings while gaining clinical experience that can encourage future employment with the district.

The committee moved all three items forward to the regular board meeting for approval.
