Council approves purchase of roughly two acres south of Hannibal View for future lots

The Beatrice City Council approved a resolution to acquire roughly two acres of land south of Hannibal View from the Gary D. Ruprecht and Sharon K. Ruprecht Revocable Trusts. The resolution passed unanimously, 8–0.
City staff said the parcel (platted for four lots) sits west of Hannibal Park and east of BSDC and noted utilities are already in place. The purchase price in the proposed contract was described in council discussion as $15,000. Staff said a short street extension (Jefferson Street alignment) would be required to access the lots; completing that extension would also allow two additional lots in the adjacent plat to gain street access.
If the purchase proceeds after title insurance and related closing steps, staff said the city intends to make the lots available for sale (or consider them in other lot-availability strategies the council may pursue). The council voted to approve the contract and to authorize any documents necessary to acquire the property.
The resolution passed on a voice vote with an 8–0 tally; staff said closing would occur once title insurance and standard closing requirements are completed.
