A staff member from the City of Des Moines Community Impact and Relations Department announced an assistive-technology event in partnership with Easterseals Iowa on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The event, presented in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, will offer hands-on demonstrations of assistive-technology options and feature a panel of people who have used assistive technology, the staff member said. "This event is great for anybody to attend," the staff member said, adding it would be especially useful for "HR professionals, employers, anybody working in the realm of community engagement."
Organizers said attendees will be able to try various assistive-technology tools and hear success stories from users who have worked with Easterseals. Registration is required; the department asked interested people to follow the link posted on the City of Des Moines website and the department's social media pages.
The announcement did not specify an attendance limit or whether there is a registration deadline. Additional event details were described as forthcoming on the city's online channels.
