Board accepts audit advisory committee report; committee to track and prioritize audit findings

The Finance, Personnel and Accountability Committee voted 5-0 to accept the first report from the district's audit advisory committee, which reviewed Baker Tilly's FY2024 findings and recommended a prioritized, triage-style approach to remediation.
Matt Chasen, director of the Office of Accountability and Efficiency, told the committee the audit advisory committee examined the reporting-and-insights document and proposed a prioritization ranking of findings. "There was some hesitancy to engage in prioritization because they stress that each of them are important," Chasen said, but noted the committee favored a triage approach given limited resources.
The committee discussed how best to receive progress updates and whether the audit advisory committee should track work already completed. Chief Financial Officer Aisha Sava told members the administration will record all findings in a spreadsheet and track percent-complete for each item, and it will share that summary with the audit advisory committee and the board.
