Orange County School Board: votes approve personnel actions, surplus technology and closed-session certification

The Orange County School Board on Tuesday approved a set of routine actions including a motion to convene a closed session for personnel matters, a post‑session certification, approval of personnel actions and a list of surplus technology items.

The board first approved the meeting agenda by motion. Later the board voted to convene a closed meeting under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, citing Code of Virginia § 2.2‑3711(A)(1) to discuss personnel matters. After the closed session the board adopted a certification resolution under Code of Virginia § 2.2‑3712(D) that the closed meeting had complied with state law, and then approved personnel actions presented in closed session.

The personnel motion covered “resignation, employment, and transfer of staff, and coaching and extracurricular appointments,” according to the board record. The board also approved a staff recommendation to list certain outdated or broken computing equipment as surplus so the division can dispose of or sell it through vendor partners.

All of those motions were adopted by voice vote during the meeting; the board clerk recorded a 4‑0 vote on the certification resolution following the closed session. The personnel agenda and the surplus‑technology motion were carried by voice vote; no roll‑call tallies for those motions were recorded in the public transcript.
